Little Current™ Safety, Support & Readiness
At Little Current™, our carrier is designed to support close, hands-on water play during a baby’s early months, when positioning, fit, and supervision matter most.
Before and during each use:
- Ensure all fasteners are secured
- Check all seams are intact, straps are untorn and fabric has no tears.
- Take special care when leaning or walking. Never bend at the waist, always at the knees.
- Ensure baby is positioned correctly in carrier before entering the water.
Is this the right time to use for my baby?
- Only use this carrier for children more than 4kg (for pre-term or low birth weight babies please consult with a health care professional before use)
- Arms under - from 2 mths, 53cms length, 4kgs/9Ibs (head support required)
- Arms over - from 6 mths, 65cms length (head support no longer required)
TICKS Rules for Safe Babywearing (ACCC Product Safety Australia)
Use of the carrier should always be guided by baby readiness rather than age alone. Babies must be positioned with their airway clear, chin lifted away from the chest, and their back and hips fully supported in a natural, seated 'M' position (see image below). The carrier should fit snugly, keeping your baby in view at all times and close enough to monitor breathing, comfort, and temperature.
For ease and reassurance, we encourage parents to follow the T.I.C.K.S. checklist whenever using the carrier:
Tight enough to hold baby securely
In view at all times
Close enough to kiss
Keep chin off chest
Supported back in a natural curve
This carrier is intended to support active adult involvement during water play. It is not a flotation device and does not replace hands-on supervision. Always remain attentive, adjust the carrier as your baby grows, and discontinue use if positioning or comfort cannot be maintained.
Safe Use in and Around Water
Before each use, caregivers should check that all straps, fastenings, and seams are secure and in good condition, and that the carrier fits snugly against the body. Extra care should be taken when moving, bending, or transitioning in and out of water.
This carrier supports wading and gentle water play only. It is not a flotation device and should never be used for swimming, submersion, or water-based activities where balance or visibility may be compromised. A baby’s head should remain above water at all times, with the caregiver maintaining full attention and physical control.
Babies’ comfort and safety should be monitored continuously, particularly in warmer conditions. If at any point correct positioning, visibility, or comfort cannot be maintained, discontinue use.
This carrier is made of neoprene which can make you and your infant hot if used for extended periods of time, especially during warmer months. Be mindful of length of time in the direct sun, and around Barbeques, ovens and sources of heat.
Always use the carrier with care, awareness, and active supervision. This product is intended to assist caregivers — not replace hands-on support or judgement — during water play.
